Meet Cristina…
Cristina Guzman, Practicum Student
Supervised by Dr. Larry Freeney, PhD, LPC-S, CCTP
Cristina is a graduate student at Divine Mercy University pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Born in Venezuela and raised across Venezuela, Spain, and the U.S., she brings a multicultural and bilingual (English/Spanish) lens to her work. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology from the University of Navarra, Spain.
Cristina’s approach to counseling is person-centered, trauma-informed, and relational. She is passionate about walking alongside clients through trauma, anxiety, life transitions, family dynamics, and questions of identity and faith — shaped by her own humanitarian work in Tanzania and experience supporting women through a pregnancy resource center. As a lifelong Catholic, she thoughtfully integrates faith into sessions when meaningful to the client, always centering their own goals.
Cristina believes therapy should honor a person’s dignity and story, not reduce them to a diagnosis. Outside of client work, she loves to dance, travel, and spend quality time with family and friends.
Cristina Guzman, Practicum Student
