Meet Elisa…

Elisa Moralez, Practicum Student

Site Supervisor: Laura Aguirre, MA, LPC

Elisa is a graduate student at the University of St. Thomas, pursuing her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She earned her undergraduate degree from Rice University, double majoring in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science with a Concentration in Psychology. Elisa’s experience in professional mental health advising to graduate and undergraduate students at Rice University has provided a foundation for working with young adults, especially busy students who balance life, family, academic and other pressure, and career development. Through advising students in a diverse environment, Elisa has experience working with first generation college students, immigrants, and BIPOC populations. Additionally, Elisa hopes to one day be a clinical psychologist, and has interests in relationships, trauma-informed care, counseling in the justice system, and the intersection of mental health and faith.

Elisa was raised Catholic and attended Catholic school for most of her life. As a Catholic woman, she hopes to be able to share her love of Christ and Catholic identity to all who join her in the healing process that is counseling. Elisa understands the influence of mental health on faith, and faith on mental health.  She hopes to help others discover their eternal communion with God, particularly as we live in a world that would prefer we feel disconnected from Him. She also aims to help others be open to the will of God, take healthy control in their paths to self and vocational discovery, and partake in the joy He offers each of us.

Additionally, Elisa is an artist and a foodie. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, crafting, cooking, exploring Houston restaurants, and spending time with her family. Elisa attends St. Anne Catholic Church, as well as Regina Caeli on occasion, and dedicates daily prayer to the Holy Rosary.
