Meet Emily…

Emily Jackson, Practicum Student

Site Supervisor: Dr. Larry Freeney, PhD, LPC | Clinical Mentor: Dr. Lea Fauster, PhD, LMFT-S

Emily is a graduate student at Divine Mercy University pursuing her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She completed her undergraduate studies in elementary education at Texas A&M University.

Emily had the great privilege of working as a campus missionary with the Fellowship of University Catholic Students (FOCUS) for two years where she was able to accompany college students as they navigated such a transitory season of life. It was through that experience that she was affirmed of her calling to pursue a vocation in the field of counseling, to accompany others as they navigate the trials life throws their way. It’s no secret that life can be challenging but we are not always meant to navigate these trials by ourselves. Emily has an interest in integrating Catholic anthropology into her practice, utilizing methods influenced by trauma-informed care, family systems through a humanistic, person-centered lens.

Emily’s background in ministry and formation through her program has continually reinforced her conviction in the goodness of the human person and the great hope found in the redeeming, healing power of God’s love. In collaboration with those she serves, she hopes to promote a space for greater healing and flourishing.
