Meet Lara…
Lara Hannaford, MA, LMFT Associate
Supervised by Dr. Chris Stravitsch, DMin, LPC-S, LMFT-S
Lara Hannaford is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Houston Christian University. She earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from University of Houston. Her care for families began long before her formal education in therapy: she has worked as a nanny for over twenty years, supporting parents as well as their children. With a foundational understanding of various therapeutic modalities, Lara is eager to explore and integrate different techniques to best meet the unique needs of her clients. Currently expanding her knowledge and skills, Lara is passionate about creating a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can feel heard, valued, and empowered. Her approach to therapy is collaborative and client-centered, emphasizing the importance of building strong therapeutic relationships. Lara has a strong commitment to help families grow and flourish, both as a family unit and as individuals as they navigate life’s challenges.
Lara has a passion for helping others discover their inner strength and God-given abilities, with the hope that it brings them closer to God and His purpose for them. Lara was confirmed in the Catholic Church in 2020. After many years of searching, her heart felt at home in the Church where she was baptized as a baby. She now takes joy in living out her baptismal call to grow in holiness and serve Christ and his Church.
Lara enjoys learning and challenging herself through travel, the arts, and her hobbies. She lived in Holland for 10 years and travelled widely to experience a myriad of cultures. She speaks English and Dutch and is currently learning Spanish to reach a larger population and help more people discover the light of God that resides within them. Beyond travel, Lara spends her free time cooking, baking, crafting-making jewelry, patronizing the arts, and reading.
