Meet Mylinh…

Mylinh Vo, Parish Counselor Student Intern

Supervised by Larry Freeney, PhD(cand), LPC

Mylinh Vo is a Houston-born graduate student intern working towards a Master’s in Science at the University of St. Thomas. Her goal is to become a Licensed Professional Counselor with a focus on anxiety, depression, trauma and its impact on the brain and body, and family relation dynamics with individuals and families. Mylinh graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education. She worked for refugee and immigrant children as a teacher with Fort Worth ISD and Catholic Charities Fort Worth for seven years. In her personal time, Mylinh served as Young Adult Volunteer Coordinator and Vice President for St. Patrick’s Cathedral Young Adult Group in Fort Worth.

Her heart for counseling ignited during her professional experience with students and her own counseling journey of healing addressing issues such as negative self/body issues, relationship attachment styles and the effects of bullying. Her hope is to also bring her love of the Catholic faith fused with counseling theories, particularly Dialectical Behavior Theory, so others can feel free and live out their most authentic version of themselves. Prior to Rejoice, Mylinh worked with parents, adults and children at Monarch Family Services and Gracewood.

Mylinh enjoys being with family and friends, dancing, baking and outdoor activities.  Currently, she has a devotion to the Divine Mercy Chaplet, Saint Joseph and is a part of a small online study group with Blessed is She. Some of her book recommendations for interest are: Searching for and Maintaining Peace by Father Jacques Phillippe, The Body Keeps Score by Dr. Van der Kolk, or Be Healed by Dr. Bob Schuchts.
