Meet Patty…

Patricia “Patty” Amaya

Supervised by Dr. Larry Freeney, PhD, LPC-S

Patty Amaya is a graduate student at the University of St. Thomas, pursuing a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is supervised by Dr. Larry Freeney, PhD, LPC-S.  She completed her undergraduate studies in General Studies with a concentration in Psychology from the University of St. Thomas.

Her educational journey has always been centered on the goal of becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) which has been shaped by years of lived experience and a desire to walk alongside others through life’s most difficult seasons. Through her professional experience, she has supported students navigating personal and academic challenges, helping them access resources and develop strategies so they can continue their educational path successfully.

Her Catholic faith is an important foundation in her work. She believes that healing includes a partnership with God and remains open to integrating faith into the counseling process in a way that is guided by each client’s comfort and needs. In her work, she seeks to help clients find hope and joy as they move through their healing journey.

Outside of her professional work, she enjoys exploring the outdoors with her husband, traveling to new places, and experiencing God’s presence through His creation. She values time spent with her family and finds joy in the simple moments of connection and togetherness.
