Meet Sophia…

Sophia Bovy, Practicum Student

Sophia is a graduate student at Divine Mercy University pursuing her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She completed her undergraduate studies in psychology at Texas A&M University.

Sophia’s time at Texas A&M helped to solidify her call to the counseling profession. Through her internship at St. Mary’s Catholic Center, Sophia experienced firsthand the deep desire of every human heart to be intentionally known and to be accompanied in faithful charity through life’s celebrations and challenges. From these encounters came a deep appreciation for the relational nature of all individuals, and a desire to work with others in a therapeutic context. Sophia now endeavors to integrate the Catholic faith into therapeutic practice as it affirms the goodness and dignity embedded within every individual.

Along with being a graduate student, Sophia has been married to her husband for a year where she is continually reminded of the Lord’s ability to work in and through others. When she’s not working on her graduate studies, you can find Sophia reading a mystery novel, going on a hike, or pursuing her quest to find the best coffee in Austin.
