Meet Stephen…
Stephen Doran, MS, LPC Associate
Supervised Dr. Chris Stravitsch, DMin, LPC-S, LMFT-S
Stephen is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate who earned a Master of Science from Divine Mercy University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. His undergraduate degree is in Psychology from the University of California, Riverside.
After college, Stephen served as a behavioral therapist offering Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) to clients with autism and other social/communicative disorders. He then joined the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) serving as a campus missionary, team director, and regional project manager. In this time, he answered the call to follow his passion for psychology and Catholicism through an integrated counseling degree. Stephen’s formation opened his worldview to see all trauma and healing within the context of relationships as catalysts for human flourishing.
Stephen operates from a Bowen Family Systems lens, also known as “systems thinking”. He has integrated systems thinking into practice with individuals, couples, and families for a variety of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, ADHD, and compulsive behaviors. He invites all clients to consider a systems thinking approach to bring them in touch with their family of origin’s impact on their emotional functioning, mental health, and relationships.
Stephen works with clients from the general public as a clinician with the Laetare Group in New Braunfels (see his Laetare Group profile page). He also serves as a Parish Counselor at Our Lady of Wisdom University Parish where he primarily serves college students from Texas State University.
Stephen’s primary clinical interests include couples work, family systems therapy, men struggling with unwanted sexual behavior, and providing specialized support for young adults. His personal life is full of time spent with his wife, family, weightlifting, reading, playing percussion, and a variety of competitive sports.
